Former KISS Axeman Takes STAND Down Under
January 4, 2002Former KISS axeman Bruce Kulick has chosen reportedly chosen Melbourne's STAND to be his backing band for his upcoming Australian tour, according to Australia's Undercover. The STAND/Kulick relationship apparently goes back to 1998 when the Australian group opened for ESP, the band made up of ex-KISS and MOTLEY CRUE members. Commented STAND drummer Stephen Crafter: "Many of the songs we are going to play with Bruce are the songs that we learnt to play our instruments to and the KISS fans will be blown away with the songs that have been picked."
STAND have revamped their line up specifically for the shows. Vince Contarino, vocalist for the most successful concept band ever in Australia, THE ZEP BOYS, will be fronting STAND and handling the vocals along with Bruce. Matthew McAuliffe from Australia's most popular KISS cover band, DINISSTY, will be playing bass along with Stephen Crafter (also of the ZEP BOYS) and Paul Drennan, who founded STAND. STAND will perform a 40-minute set of their own music to open the show and after a brief break will re-emerge with Bruce Kulick to play a selection of songs from Bruce's solo album and KISS songs from Bruce's years with the band.
